Seattle, WA - Beloved Chef-Owner Mauro Golmarvi of Assaggio Ristorante is offering an update on his personal life and his popular Seattle based restaurant. Mauro is excited to shed some light on the latest with his family, the Assaggio brand and upcoming plans to celebrate success and exciting new things to come for this popular downtown Seattle establishment.

Assaggio may have just been recognized for a monumental 25 years in business, but to Golmarvi this milestone is simply the beginning of so many more. Since moving to the US in 1984 and opening Assaggio in 1993, Golmarvi has built an incredible reputation for being in the restaurant 6 days a week, greeting guests and running a kitchen that prepares Seattle’s most iconic and “verace” Italian dishes. He has come a long way since becoming a self-taught chef in the Marche region of Italy, then moving Seattle with only $8,000, a credit card and a heart of gold dedicated to hospitality, people and the essence of Italian culture.

As a Seattle favorite, Golmarvi does not take this success for granted and understands that their traditions and treasured menu offerings must always be paired with the exceptional guest experience. Mauro always puts the guest first when dining at his ristorante, which has included thousands of dates, marriage proposals and anniversaries. At a recent 25 year celebratory dinner, they introduced a special hashtag (#MyMauroMoment) that encourages the sharing of their favorite experiences for Mauro to read and to share with the rest of the Assaggio guests online.

“Mauro loves to watch and remember all your firsts as life is celebrated at Assaggio,” says his wife Connie Golmarvi. “His happiness comes from seeing thrilled guests, and he knows that how the dining experience makes you feel is what makes Assaggio and all other great restaurants timeless.”

Mauro married Connie Blumenthal a little over a year ago and is slowly beginning to expand his brand and elevate his daughter’s role in the Family Business. “I’m speaking with my daughter Francesca about an integral role in the restaurant,” says Mauro. “Taking time off is hard to do as a restaurant owner, but with my daughter and the team that has been with us for so many years,  Connie and I can plan for long-awaited vacations to places like Italy and Portugal.”

Additional plans for the couple include their own brand of wine to be released soon and a teaching stint for Mauro at Walla Walla Culinary School. Mauro also has an Italian cookbook available which he shares the best of his recipes and his philosophy on food via simplicity, honesty and passion. For the 2nd version of the cookbook in 2013, he raised over $17,000 on Kickstarter and the book is available now at https://www.assaggioseattle.com/cookbook.

Assaggio Ristorante is located at 2010 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121 and their official website with their menu can be found at - https://www.assaggioseattle.com/.

About Assaggio Ristorante
Authentically Italian, with a passion for food and people. At the heart of Mauro’s culinary philosophy is passion—infuse passion with preparation and the result will be cuisine beyond expectation.

Assaggio, helmed by Chef Mauro Golmarvi, is heavily influenced by his culinary roots and upbringing in Northern Italy. Opened in 1993, the menu highlights artisanal techniques and recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. From pasta made fresh daily, to create their own fish stocks, what you experience is truly authentic Italian cuisine. Mauro uses locally sourced ingredients from farmers to fishmongers that he has been buying from for the last 25 years, as well as imported cheeses and other produce directly from families in Italy-sometimes in their 2nd or 3rd generation.

Named for and inspired by the Italian way of life- the importance of meals with family and friends, slowing life down and enjoying each other’s company. When you come into Assaggio it’s like you come into Mauro's home to share a meal and an experience.

About Mauro Golmarvi

At the heart of Mauro’s culinary philosophy is passion, he infuses his passion with preparation and the result will be cuisine beyond expectation. From his early days as a boy in Rome, Mauro Golmarvi began his culinary education under the watchful eye of his mother, Naji. From her, he discovered his true passion for food and people.

After working at one of the oldest restaurants in Rome, he moved to Ancona for Medical school. It was in Ancona that he decided to make his way to America to become a great chef and one day open his own restaurant. Once on his own, he had only two true instructors—his stove and his oven, which he fondly refers to as his masters, the ones who taught him everything. “My stove and my oven are my Gods. They are not fancy, but they are mine, and they allow me to express my soul.” His dream was to have a restaurant with the ceilings painted like the Sistine Chapel.

When you visit Assaggio today, you will see the beautiful frescoes throughout the restaurant and you will know you are part of his dream come true. Today, when Mauro isn’t welcoming his loyal customers and friends to his “home” he calls Assaggio, he’s spending quality time with his favorite sous chef in the world—daughter, Francesca—to whom his cookbooks are dedicated.
