Tini Bigs Introduces Bama-Tini and Clin-Tini

Martini Poll Puts Obama 11 Votes Ahead

SEATTLE, Wash.—(April 22, 2008)— For those Democrats who didn’t caucus in February, it isn’t too late to have a say: They can cast their votes and get a cool, tasty beverage out of the deal— for the bargain price of four George Washingtons and a Lincoln.

This is the most heated political climate the United States has seen in many a year and Tini Bigs has leapt into the fray with its newly minted Bama-Tini and Clin-Tini poll.

In order to ensure absolute impartiality, these martinis are the exact same recipe (Tuaca, Finlandia Vodka, cranberry juice and a touch of sweet and sour) offered at the same price ($9), with two different names. What it’s called when ordered determines how votes are tallied on the large chalkboard mounted over the bar: One drink = one vote. (The count is typically updated at the end of each evening, but guests may request a new count immediately after they’ve placed their order.)

This is the first year Tini Bigs has staged this contest for a primary and has been airing the debates throughout the year. The contest will continue until a Democratic candidate has been selected.

Keep an eye out in late summer for Tini Bigs’ third presidential election martini poll. A spot-on barometer of Seattle’s political preferences, this decidedly unscientific poll has never failed to predict the winning nominee. (Who needs pundits when there are potent potables?). In the past, curious patrons have called the bar regularly to check ongoing results.
Says General Manager Patrick Haight, “Everyone knows how inaccurate polls can be so we decided to do our own as an unofficial way to gauge local support for the candidates.”

As it stands now, Obama is in the lead by 14 “votes.” Only time will tell how accurately the “Tini tally” reflects the delegate count when the Democratic Convention rolls around in August.

Created by gifted artist Martin Hester, the spectacular chalk renderings of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are worth a visit on their own.
Tini Bigs is located at the bottom of Queen Anne Hill and the top of Belltown at 100 Denny Way, near the Seattle Center. Hours are 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. daily. Light meals are served until 10 p.m. Each handmade martini features a generous pour of Finlandia Vodka or Bombay Gin served in a 10 oz. martini glass. They make ‘Big Tinis’ at Tini Bigs.
